Self-Lubricating Property of TiB2-Ni Coating in the Hot Forging Die of Aluminum Alloy

Hot die forging is a forming method widely used in the automobile industry, shipbuilding, and aerospace industry. In hot process of aluminum alloy, “mold sticking” defect often occurs results low productivity short life. Herein, we prepared TiB2 reinforced nickel-based coatings by combined use plasma transferred arc melt injection method, investigated morphology properties composite conditions. The showed that coating with generated boron-rich self-lubricating products during sliding adhered alloy on surface has significantly reduced quantity transformed from rough plough to smooth layer increase TiB2, which beneficial quality counterface. this research provide valuable guidelines for design preparation applied mold alloys.
